SIRUS project: Experts debate institutional lifelong learning strategies

The second meeting of the 29 universities participating in the “Shaping Inclusive and Responsive University Strategies – SIRUS” project, took place in Lille on 3-4 June 2010. At this meeting the universities presented the SWOT analyses they had conducted on their institutional lifelong learning strategies.

The results of these discussions will feed into the revised institutional lifelong learning strategies that each participating university is currently drafting.

During the plenary sessions, participants had the opportunity to listen to and discuss with renowned international experts. Professor Liz Thomas (Edge Hill University, UK) spoke on “Embedding widening participation and lifelong learning into institutions”, while Professor Maria Slowey (Dublin City University, Ireland) made the case for “Strengthening the provision of university level continuing education” and HE expert Sybille Reichert highlighted the “Universities’ regional engagement.”
